About Library

 

Introduction
The Ministry of General Administration Library was established in 2037 B.S, the year Ministry of General Administration itself was established. The Library Section is the integral section of MoGA having/ owning a wide range of collections on Public Administration, Economics, Management and Administrative Reform document of Nepal. The MoGA library is one of the fully automated library. It has its own Library Management System. The system has, book issue, renewal, return, multimedia and online search facilities. 

 

Objectives
The main objectives of the Library Section is to collect, process, organize and disseminate information materials for the use of the working staff of  MoGA and also to provide reference service and reading facilities to outsiders.

Collections
It has approximately 15000 books, Journals, documents and reports in Nepali and English language. The library collections focus on Public Administration, Management, Public Policies, and Administrative Reform issues. The collection subjects cover more than one hundred. Specially in the  following areas:

 

  • Nepal Collections (all books on Nepal in different subjects in Nepali and English languages).
  • Publications of Ministry of General Administration including Prashasan, Study Reports and other documents.
  • Publications of different Governmental, Non Governmental and International Organizations.
  • Books on the following thematic area:
    • Public Administration.
    • Management
    • Economic development
    • Science
    • Marketing
    • Research
    • Sociology
    • Education
    • Encyclopedia
    • History
    • Mountaineering
    • Public Policies
    • Human Resources
  • Literatures written by Nepalese writers
  • National and international daily, weekly and monthly Magazines and Newspapers.
  • Different periodicals of varied subjects.

Facilities and services
-Circulation of books to working staff at MoGa.
-Reference /consultation and reading facilities to MoGA staff and Outside Users.
-Newspaper Clippings.
- Digital library containing MoGA Publication such as Prashasan and Reports, Raj Patra, Judicial verdict, Acts and Regulations.
- Book issue through computerized system
-Book and document entries can be searched by Title, Author and Subject.

 

DataBase
Books and Documents are in the process of being computerized in software package "Library Management System" designed and developed by MoGA. Books are classified and organized according to Dewey Decimal Classification System.

 

Users
The main users of the library are the staff at MoGA, and other users are general public, government personnel, teachers, researchers, students and so on.

 

Circulation of Materials
Materials are issued only to staff member of MoGA. The loan period is 15 days for two books. Reference materials are only for consultation. The MoGA is planning to issue books to other government personnel other than MoGA in near future.

 

Library Opining Hours
Summer:    Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and
                    Friday 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Winter:       Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and
                    Friday 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

 

Library Staff
One Library Officer, one senior administrative assistant and one assistant level staff are supporting to run the library.
